A friend of me is expecting a baby and I'll make a quilt for the baby.
So, I remarked that I'll wait until she knows if it's a boy or girl, and if it's a girl I'm going to make one with fairies and unicorns!
His remark was: Why not make one with all kinds of fantasy creature right away?
I think that means I'll have to hand in my badge...

You blog lightly about this but on a more serious note it's not laughing matter if you're misgendered and your child turns out to be trans. Please don't fall into the trap of gendering people. And yes, your partner is absolutely right - you should NOT gender children or adults (I REPEAT NOT GENDER CHIDREN OR ADULTS) and they should decide for themselves to be themselves which may or may not conform to patriarchal gender norms. Your partner sounds like a great person.
